.X. ----------------------------------- Maybe he should have listened to his father. He had no clue that for punishment his dad would send him to East City by himself. Jake did not know if he was sent here to do some more alchemy training or what. The only good thing that came out of this had to be that he would free from his father for a couple of days or so. He had already been here for an hour or so and already seemed to get himself lost. It has been while since Jake actually came here. It had to be at least two or three years now. Last time he was here, He had a giant fight with his father and he ran off on own. “Now what did I do?” The fifteen year old asked himself. There was no way he would be able to get a room for the night or even some food. He was broke and his father didn’t send him off with any money. Plus, it wasn’t likely that someone would hire a kid for a couple of days. Jake had no idea what to do; he was pretty much screwed himself when he yelled back at his father earlier today.
There was nothing that could be done. If he tried to go home, his father would most likely just send him back. Plus, he had no money to buy a train ticket back to Central. Jake was just struck in East City without any money for food or shelter.

East City was probably one of the most boring cities to Willis. Nothing really seemed to happen, and he knew absolutely no one in the city. "Well, maybe I can find something interesting here for once. Although I doubt I will..." His voice trailed off. I suppose I could just get something to drink.. It wasn't too bad of an idea, plus if he was going to be staying here for sometime it would be best to find a place to stay.
After a while of wandering around trying to find a coffee shop, he began to give up hope. That was, until he saw another boy with light brown hair walking around. He almost looked lost, but asking him was still worth a try. "Um, excuse me! Kid! Do you know of any coffee shops around here?"

.X. ----------------------------------- Why did he not just listen to his father? If he actually did listen, Jake would not be in this a situation such as this. That was now in the past as for the present he needed find some where to stay and find a job to make some quick money. Although in the end, Jake know no one would ever hire a slacker such as him. Dad’s punishments are way overboard…. Doesn’t he think about what’s he doing to one of his kids? Jake thought to himself while walking down the streets of East City. That is when some strange started talking to him, "Um, excuse me! Kid! Do you know of any coffee shops around here?"
Jake turned around to the other young men who looked to be around the same age as him. The fifteen year old had to think about the question, but got nothing in the process “Sorry I don’t…. It’s been years since the last time I was here.” He did not even know where he was in the first place. East City was an easy city to get lost in, especially for some as clumsy as Jake.

Willis waited a bit before responding. "Ten years? That's a long time. If you don't mind me asking, what brings you back here?" After the words left his mouth, he thought about how rude they sounded. Oh well, the damage would be done now.
It actually hadn't been too long since Willis had been in East City, though he never really learned his way around. "Well, would you mind coming with me to find a nice little place to get a drink?" IT was the least he could do to make up for being rude.

.X. ----------------------------------- Jake didn’t know exactly know how to answer that. He was broke since he was forced by his father to leave and he forgot all of his money in his room back in Central. Why didn’t he just went to his alchemy lesson if he did he wouldn’t be in this situation. “Um…. The reason why I’m here is because I skipped my classed… And as for punishment my father sent me here without any money for food or anything…” It was very awkward to actually tell someone what he was going through at the moment. Nothing really mattered to the fifteen year old he just wanted to go back home. “My name is Jake Cartney by the way….” That was the only thing the teen could actually think of what to say. It wasn’t like he had any money to go and get some drink with this kid he just met. Besides, Jake didn’t really know who this guy was or anything about him. Maybe it wasn’t the best idea that the fifteen year old told him why he was here in the first place.

"You don't have any money? Well, that's not a problem. If you want, I could pay. I'd just like to have the company."
[/b][/color] the words almost seemed awkward coming out of his mouth. He wiped his golden yellow hair from his golden eyes, before sighing. "Your names Jake Cartney? That sounds nice, my name is Willis Rider. I'm the Lightening Flame Alchemist of the State. I'm a duel Alchemist, you see?" he wasn't entirely sure why he was telling the young boy so much about who he was. He just felt comfortable around him, like he didn't have to hide everything. Willis looked around some more, trying to find anywhere that was actually selling food and drinks, and wasn't just a mechanic shop. ”Well hey, if you need somewhere to stay, I’m staying in a hotel near here…” he just let the words flow out of his mouth. .X. ----------------------------------- The fifteen year old knew he shouldn’t take up Wilis’s offer or not. Sure, Jake needed a place to stay and not to mention he didn’t have any money for food either. There was still that fact that the two of them only just met a couple of minutes ago. He would have been better off if he just kept his mouth shut and not talk about the stupid situation he put himself in. “Then I’m guessing that the hotel you’re staying at is a military one…” Jake just wasn’t ready to tell his new friend that his father was a high ranking state alchemy or the fact that he was supposed to be training to become one. If it was up to him, he wouldn’t tell anyone about his so-called family line although his last name should be similar to anyone that was dealing with the military. “I can’t really take you up on that offer….” He just left it at that. The teen didn’t want to tell the reason of why if he didn’t have to.

“Then I’m guessing that the hotel you’re staying at is a military one…” Willis listened as the words hit his ears. "Well, actually, no. I'm not a very experienced State Alchemist, so I'd feel like a burden if I just started using the military’s resources right away. Willis wasn't sure why he was trying so hard to get Jake to go with him. After all, he had just met the boy, for all he knew Jake could be some sort of mass murderer, waiting to kill him in his sleep. Then again, he hadn't really had any company in a while. Not since he left central, where he met an older woman. "Well, If you really can't..." his voice trailed off into a whisper.

.X. ----------------------------------- Was it really alright to tell Willis about the real reason, other than cutting classes, to why the hell he was here. Jake wasn’t sure of what to do although sooner or later the state alchemist in front of him was going to find out about his family line of state alchemist. “Sorry. If my dad ever found out that I was freeloading off of you, I would get in so much trouble. And not only that, but since you helped me, you might get in some type of trouble within the military.” The Fifteen year old knew he was going to have to tell him everything now. Once again, the teen should have just kept his mouth shut and mind his own business.
“I guessing I’m gonna have to tell you. You are going to find out one way or another…” Now Jake wasn’t exactly sure of how to put it. Willis would have to be the first one he ever told. Everyone else just knew the Cartney family was big and had a lot of money. “Um… Well my dad is also a state alchemist. He’s the Water-Bound Alchemist. Not only that, but my older brother Jessi is also one and I’m not really sure if my twin is one or not….. My dad thinks I’m going to be the next one in line to become a state alchemist, but…..” Jake just left it at that. He didn’t weather it was safe enough to even say it out loud. He was the first one throughout the generation of the Cartney family males that didn’t want to become one if he didn’t have to.

“Well, okay then. I understand, I was just trying to help someone in need.” Willis wanted to leave the conversation at that, but the curiosity was eating away at him. He had to know who this boy’s father was, and whether or not he had a good influence on the military. But it wasn’t just that, there was something more. Something else had compelled Willis to continuously offer to have Jake stay with him. Something he wasn’t entirely familiar with. Something lurched at his heart when he thought about it, no doubt the younger boy would be disgusted if Willis had told him why he really wanted him in his hotel room. “So, your father…would you mind telling me more about him?” he had to force the words out of his mouth. They weren’t what he wanted to say at all.
“Oh, and your brother, you said he was also a State Alchemist. Who is he under?” the teenager was trying to think about different things. After all, Jake had already told him no, but he couldn't just stop there. “I’m currently under Lieutenant General Grumman, he’s the commander of Eastern Headquarters. That’s kind of why I’m here. Now, you never told me why you were here…” Willis was just rambling now, killing time. He was savoring every minute with Jake, as he knew that their time grew short, since he had duties to fulfill now.

.X. ----------------------------------- Truth to be told, Jake didn’t really know anything about his older brother. It had to be at least three year since he last saw him. Ever since Jessi joined the military he never had the chance to come home or that’s what the teen thought anyway. As for his father, Jake was pretty sure he was one of the colonel’s stationed in Central. The fifteen year old didn’t really know anything about his father’s military career. The man never brought his work with him, but then again he probably did not have the time. After all, he was raising four children all by himself. “As far as I know my dad’s a colonel in Central. Besides that, I know nothing of what he actually does…. Maybe Jacob knows something...? My dad doesn’t really trust me. I never really listen to what he says, so Jacob is most likely the one to know.“ Jake was the troublemaker of the family. While his two brothers and sister all listened to their father’s wishes, Jake usually didn’t. He always did what he wanted when he wanted.
“As for Jessi… again I don’t know anything about him. It’s been three year since I last some him. Last time I checked he was stationed here in East City.“ It was kind of awkward that he didn’t really know anything about his family besides the fact that his family line was every male had to become a state alchemist in their lifetime. Now that was the one thing that Jake didn’t want for himself. Sure, he liked using his alchemy, but he didn’t want to use it for the state. He would rather help people in need.
“Now, you never told me why you were here…”
That was one thing the fifteen year old wasn’t really comfortable about talking about. He always skipped his water alchemy classes all the time, but this time had to be different if his father got mad enough to send Jake to East City without any money. “Well….. I kind of skipped an important water alchemy class…..” He wasn’t really proud of what he did, but then again he would have probably do it again given the chance.

"Jacob? You haven't mentioned him before, who is he?" curiosity filled inside of Willis. This other boy was spilling so much information out to him, who knows what he may find. Guilt washed over the teen as he realized what just went through his head. He wasn't talking to Jake to try and figure out every military secret from the boy's family, he was just trying to be a friend.
“Well….. I kind of skipped an important water alchemy class…..”
Water Alchemy? Now that's a new one. "Oh, so you're a Water Alchemist? Well, a duel between us would be interesting. On one hand, you would have a chance against me, yet on the other hand, you wouldn't." The yellow haired boy was referring to the transmutation circles carved on the back of his hands, hidden beneath white gloves. His left hand was more precise fire alchemy, and on the left was wild lightening alchemy.

.X. ----------------------------------- Was it really okay to be telling this other teen everything when he only just met him? Already Jake said too much. The Cartney family was a very secretive about anything about what was going on within the family although the fifteen year old wasn’t the type to keep his mouth shut. “Jacob is my twin. He’s probably back in Central trying to get Dad to end my punishment.” Or at least that was something the kid was hoping for. Then again trying to get their father to change his mind was the hardest thing you could do, so Jake was more likely to be longer than before. “I also have a younger sister named Jenny. How about you got any family?” that was probably none of his business, but he couldn’t help but ask it anyway.
“Well, a duel between us would be interesting. On one hand, you would have a chance against me, yet on the other hand, you wouldn't."
Now that was another thing Jake wasn’t really comfortable with. Sure, he was taught to fight with his alchemy, but he never used them in a real life battle. He only had fake fights with his teachers and his brothers, never with anything else. “A duel? You’re kidding, right?” Maybe this was another to why his father sent him here to East City. Jake did the real world experience instead of pretend battles with his brothers. Either way Jake was really up to it.
